Renters Rights Bill: Latest Update

Renters Rights Bill: Latest Update hero

At Pilgrims Sales and Lettings, we are committed to keeping our clients up to date on the latest developments affecting the property market. One of the most significant pieces of legislation currently under discussion – the Renters Reform Bill – has now been officially delayed until the autumn.

It has been confirmed that the Bill will not be debated before Parliament breaks for the summer. Leader of the House of Commons, Lucy Powell, has not scheduled any time for the Bill in next week’s agenda, meaning MPs will leave for recess on Wednesday without progressing it further.

The Bill is now expected to return to the House of Commons on 8th September, shortly after Parliament reconvenes. At that point, MPs will begin considering a number of amendments made by the House of Lords. While the Lords will still hold a Third Reading this Monday, this is now seen as a formality rather than a key stage in the process.

Pilgrims Sales and Lettings continues to monitor these developments closely on behalf of our landlords, tenants, and property investors. The Renters Reform Bill proposes several major changes to the rental landscape, and we understand the uncertainty this may bring.

Assuming no further delays, the Bill could receive Royal Assent before 16th September, ahead of the next parliamentary break for party conferences.

We are here to guide you through what these changes could mean for your property journey—whether you're letting, renting, or investing. Our team is always available to provide expert advice and support.
