Preparing your property for sale....

News at Pilgrims Sales & Lettings | 19/01/2017

Spring is considered to be the best time to sell a property. However, due to competition, you need to make your home the most attractive to buyers.  Look at it objectively,  and how it compares to other similar houses for sale.

First impressions count

Ensure windows, gutters, doors are clean and the front garden area is tidy and weeded. Relocate any unsightly bins. Give your home the ‘kerb side’ appeal.

Depersonalize

You need the buyers to imagine themselves living in their own home.  Put away any family photos or ornaments and children’s pictures from walls and cupboards.

Declutter

Clear kitchen work surfaces, shelves and bathrooms of any clutter. Store away any large items such pushchairs and bikes.

Clean

Bathrooms and kitchen need to be spotlessly clean. We suggest a neural colour is more appealing if a coat of paint is needed to freshen up.

Get ready to sell

Initial property searches are generally done on line so make sure your property is well presented when we come round to photograph.

Get ready for viewings.

If possible, leave any viewings to us as some potential buyers feel uncomfortable if the owners are present. Avoid hiding too much in cupboards as some buyers like to examine storage areas.

Brief us

If you have any information about your home or the area which may not be obvious, it would be useful to us. For example, if there are good parks, restaurants and schools nearby, this could be passed to potential buyers.
